About me
Hi my name is Jo & I am a stay at home Mum to four beautiful children, Tyler, Holly, Cody & Summer, living in the rural country side and first time business owner of The RED Shed Candles. I love nothing better than a calming scent filling my home. I believe candles have magical powers to create all of these emotions...calm, happy, smiles, purpose, energies, harmony, joy, laughter, a happy environment and much more! How it all started! So I've always loved candles, that goes without saying. I thought it was Christmas when I came across a candle making idea and was very excited to put the idea into action! I very quickly found the love & passion for toying around with all the gorgeous fragrances. Patience was put to the test as I would have to wait 24 hours to get a woof of each new scent. After much time practising and perfecting my recipes I was very excited to share my creations with friends and family who I know love the aromas just as much as i do. My goal was to present an attractive vessel that was easy on the eye but also to get that balance with the best scent throw! Scent is everything and I feel confident that I have mastered that with how I pour! My candles are tripled scented. I also wanted that point of difference, "Create your own candle" Heres the thing, I've noticed candles are such a personal thing so I wanted those choices available for my customers! You choose the jar, the fragrance, the wick, even the colour. I didn't have to think hard about how to name my jars/vessels, Whangapoua themed it was always going to be. My 12 year old son was the master at naming my company 'The RED Shed Candles' Sold!!! Random name it may seem but as our bach is exactly that, a little red shed, the name fitted my theme just perfectly! All my candles are named after areas in Whangapoua or places we have visited from Whangapoua that are dear & significant to my family! My Anaraki candle is the subdivision by which our bach is located. Luke's is my ultimate favourite place in Kuaotunu to eat pizza! If you love pizza this place is a must! Whangapoua's not very big so I have since moved onto sea creatures, nature names etc! Why soy? soy contains no GMO material or paraffin or chemicals. Soy is a slower burning wax so you will get longer out of your candle. Soy is also known to deliver the best scent throw! My wicks are cotton, which are one of the best in the industry! The flat braid style candle wick bends at the tip while burning, resulting in more complete combustion & a cleaner, self trimming burn. They are pure cotton with a paper braid and are zinc & lead free! My fragrances are made of a combination of natural & synthetic materials and do not contain any phthalates, paraffin or UV inhibitors. I love a party so decided to introduce candle parties, why not! Great way to celebrate a baby shower, hens night, a christmas gathering, a birthday party, a christmas client gathering (if you'd like some beautiful candles burning in the background) a mid-year catchup and many more, any excuse is good for a party!
